The story
Welcome to CHVENIA’s digital story world. These are original fictional adults, crafted with AI; their ages, work, friendships and adventures are authored fiction. The Upstairs Room is their shared story setting, not a real CHVENIA venue.
Salome grew up next door to Ana, supplying dialogue for adventures that Ana drew much more convincingly than either of them remembered. Their homemade newspaper lasted three issues and one spectacular dispute about the size of a headline. Salome still owns the final copy, including the apology she claimed at the time was only a production note.
She moved to Tbilisi determined to write something spare, funny and unmistakably her own. Editing other people’s work proved easier than showing her own pages. She can remove a pretentious phrase in seconds, then spend an evening deciding whether a personal message sounds too eager. Her friends find this contrast both endearing and extremely useful during arguments.
Tako brings her film notes full of grand declarations. Salome asks what actually happens in the scene, then writes the sentence that should have been there first. Rati, her cousin, tests her short comics on screens and objects whenever the punchline requires three taps. She calls this impatience; he calls it useful evidence. Both are usually right.
The small word არაუშავს matters to Salome because she is learning to extend her excellent tolerance for other people’s mistakes to herself. Her next comic concerns a woman who keeps correcting a mysterious message instead of answering it. Ana suspects autobiography. Salome insists that the character’s haircut is completely different, which convinces absolutely nobody.
What drives them
Finish a linked series of short comics about people trying to sound certain while their lives refuse to cooperate.
What gets in the way
She values directness, yet her most honest writing is still the work she is least willing to show anyone.
Everyday rituals
- Reads every important sentence aloud
- Keeps a list of accidentally brilliant mistakes
- Sends Ana a single question instead of advice
Their way of wearing it
A sharp silhouette, an easy maroon layer and one familiar word; she prefers the clothes to make their point quickly.
People in their world
- Ana
Her childhood neighbour and zine collaborator; their longest argument concerns a headline neither will throw away.
- Tako
Edits her film texts, usually beginning by removing the sentence Tako loves most.
- Rati
Her cousin and digital-comic tester; they disagree about whether a confusing joke is a writing or interface problem.
The current chapter
Her first complete comic is on the shared table. She has forbidden everyone to call it brave, but has not taken it back.
Where the story could go
- Ana prints the supposedly private final page of her comic as a test sheet by mistake.
- A reader laughs at a line Salome intended to be painfully sincere.
- Rati challenges her to send one message exactly as she first writes it.
